Closed 13/03/202 to 29/06/2020

Dear Members,

Today, I have taken the extremely difficult decision to temporarily cancel all classes at Atlantic Jiu Jitsu, due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak.

After hearing the Government’s recommendations on “reducing social contact” and consulting with medical processionals it seems as though there is little choice but to close.

CLOSED 13/03/2020 until UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

While our classes are below the threshold for indoor gatherings, the recommendations also mention “reducing social contact” which to ordinary people means limiting hand shakes and so on, but obviously in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training, extreme close contact cannot be avoided.

Our age profile and fitness levels put us, mostly outside the at risk groups, but we need to consider our role in potentially spreading infection to those more at risk. So we take this decision with the thoughts of the at risk people in our community in mind.

I am also considering to arrange some alternative activities for those of you that wish to remain active.  All suggestions welcome.

If there is any change in the situation, for better or worse, I will be in touch.

I sincerely apologies for these actions, but with responsibility for so many people I feel I am left with no choice but to close, as I’m sure you understand.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss any of the above.

Thank you for your continued support, take care.

Kind regards,

Ryan Smyth
